Which wire to connect to red alligator clips on? Hot or neutral ?
It doesn't matter on alternating current, as "hot" goes from positive to negative and back 60 times per second. Just be sure you have a neutral, not all switch boxes do. The wires connected to the terminals on the switch should both be "hot".
